St. John's Newfoundland, November 19, 2012 -- Our names are Trent McDonald and Jim Maher. We are both registered Nurses with Teamsters Local 855 of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Shop Stewards on the Hebron Bull Arm Construction Site.

This January we both are travelling to Haiti as part of Team Broken Earth, a volunteer medical team that was formed to help the relief effort in Haiti after the devastating earthquake of January 2010.

Each team consists of about 25-30 Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Surgeons, Radiologists, whom work together at the Bernard Mevs Hospital in Haiti, for one week caring for Haitians, as well as providing valuable teaching to the staff at Bernard Mevs Hospital.

As you can imagine these efforts come with a considerable cost, which is why we would like for you to help support our fundraising efforts. To donate and learn more about the relief effort, you can visit www.brokenearth.ca.

Also we are selling 50/50 tickets at $20.00 each. The maximum prize payout being $15,000.00. This draw will take place on December 21st, 2012.

As well if members want to donate, you may be able to collect a total sum and then donate it to broken earth on behalf of Teamsters Canada.
