The organizing campaigns led by Teamsters Local Union 938 continue to pay off. Indeed, Local Union 938 has been certified by the Canada Industrial Relation Board (CIRB) to represent the 138 owner operators who work for Young Transportation Limited in Ontario.

These workers deliver goods to the stores of the Loblaws and No Frills food chains in Ontario.

Local Union 938 organizers are also awaiting a decision on the application for certification that they filed to represent the salaried employees of this transportation company.

“I’d like to congratulate these workers for having made a wise decision,” states Craig McInnes, president of Teamsters Local Union 938. “These workers realized that they were doomed if they decided to act individually and that they needed to work collectively.”

The CIRB is expected to render its decision about the salaried employees in the coming weeks.
