Montreal, November 28, 2009 -- Court proceedings late this evening have resulted in having CN and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) locomotive engineers maintain commuters’ service for the Mont St-Hilaire and Deux-Montagnes lines operated by the Agence métropolitaine de transport.

Teamsters Canada Rail Conference had agreed from the very beginning to maintain the service despite the strike but CN stalled the process until it was before the courts.

"We are relieved that the commuters won't be affected by the work stoppage, said Daniel J. Shewchuk in a statement late Friday night. It was never our intention to put them in a difficult position."


Teamsters Canada Rail Conference represents 12,000 railway workers with major railroads and shortline railroads across Canada and affiliated with the 125,000 members in Teamsters Canada and 1.4 million members in North America with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
